Obviously no anime is truly perfect but its as close as you can reasonably get. The flaws are so small and insignificant that you pretty much have to nitpick with a fine comb for them essentially. Amazing all the way fullon emotionally invested and pretty much unforgettable. Can personally remember and cite almost everything from it to near perfect accuracy to this day. Masterpieces. 9 Fantastic. Among the best Ive seen and incredibly well done on almost every front. Extremely good captured my interest and so memorable that I could likely name close to if not every relevant character and episode from these anime without a problem. Has maybe 1 notable flaw or a couple of small cumulative problems that keeps it from being a 10 but nothing major. Absolute must watches. 8 Great. More than just good: Managed to get me emtionally invested and very interested in what was going on. Might have a couple noteable flaws but is executed well enough to rope me in and make me willing to overlook them. While not a specific requirement for this grade anything that can successfully manage to make me cry is an instant 8 or higher. Strongly enjoyed and would go well out of my way to to recommend. 7 Good. Does more than just keep me entertained. Got me genuininely interested in what was happening and I had a very fun time watching. Not quite emotionally invested but a step above being just enjoyable. 7 and above are shows I have or would consider rewatching willingly for fun. Would absolutely endorse anything 7 or above. 6 Enjoyable. Kept me entertained to where I wouldnt consider it time wasted. It could be basic flawed or semipredictable etc but at least managed to be fun semiinteresting or at bare minimum enjoyable . Positives outweighed the negatives. Likely wouldnt remember every detail in the long run or go out of my way to rewatch but I had a nice enough time while I was here to enjoy it and will remember it as enjoyable. Could give a generally positive recommendation or personal impression on anything rated 6 or above if asked about it. 5 Just Okay/Mid. Didnt dislike it but nor could I say I particularly enjoyed it. Not bad but wouldnt call them good either. A bit too balanced and not very notable in pretty much every aspect. Never felt invested for better or worse at any point. There are a select few anime that wind up as 5s because they are extremely polarizing between their bad parts and good that assessing them as a whole ends up being kinda a difficult balancing act such as Re:CREATORS or Engage Kiss and those few will always have a note or review by them explaining why. But largely these are just forgettable time wasters. I wouldnt go out of my way to disuade anyone from watching but nor would I actively recommend any of them. 4 Not good/boring. Might have some redeeming qualities or things that stand out that I liked but overall not enjoyable and/or very boring. Negatives outweigh the positives but at least there are some positives worth discussing. Could maybe be convinced to watch a sequel if there is one if I hear good enough things about it to convince me to give it a chance tho but it is rare and on a personal case by case basis. Not gonna get a recommendation from me but not awful enough to hate. 3 Bad. Definitively bad. Negatives greatly outweigh the positives. Has a few noticeable qualities but its not good. What distinguishes 3s from 2s or lower is that these can potentially make for enjoyable hate watches on rare occasion. This is the area for anime that are so bad it could almost loop around to becoming good or perhaps entertaining enjoyable at least watchable. In short this is the hatewatch tier. Only recommended if youre in the mood for watching a very specific type of trash otherwise avoid. 2 Very bad. Among the worst Ive seen with little to no redeeming qualities. Has maybe 1 or 2 things going for it but thats it. Typically overly cringey predictable visually lacking poor characters and/or extremely boring. Doesnt even make for an entertaining hate watch. Never recommended. 1 ... Better call the Men in Black and ask them to come over with their memory Neuralyzer Id rather forget watching these abominable truly distinguished dumpster fires than have it take up space in my heading knowing Ive wasted time watching these atrocities. I hate every one of these and wouldnt even condemn my worst enemies to watch them. Halfgrades given on rarer occasion when an anime is a bit higher than the tier below it but not quite enough to reach the one above.
