The name itself gives of a dark vibe but once you start reading it you know that things are only gonna get messed up. Not in a bad way. Well... bad for the characters but not for the story. I really like the series but I wouldnt recommend for those who are easily offended. In one word you can call this Edgy. I like this but every time I come to check if there is any new chapter I actually hope there isnt because I can feel what the characters are going through when I read it. You can feel that things are only going downhill but you cant do anything. You feel their helplessness. Each chapter just messes everything up even more than the previous one. Some chapters can feel like there wasnt much development but it still ends up messing up the story even more. Those chapters might make you feel it even more. The story has a really dark and mysterious vibe. There are so many questions left unanswered. Each character is very different from the other. They each have their own circumstances. All their lives get tangled up and creates such a good story. They all want to leave the city but fate has them all tied down to this city where they all are searching for freedom a bit of happiness. Even if they want to leave the city they cant. They continue to live their miserable life holding on to the last strands of hope. They have no control of their own lives. The art style itself gives off a dark vibe. Everything combined gives off a realistic story where you feel like you are a part of the story as well. Its Seinen for a reason. There is no way this ends with a happy note and this is not a spoiler. I know its still ongoing but if you read the first chapter youll understand. The story just draws you more and more. In short Shounen no abyss is a heavy dark story where the MC meets a girl and his life starts changing. Which is pretty common in anime. But the dark and heavy aspect is what makes it so different from any other anime or manga. Its the cycle of life where MC and other characters are stuck and are unable to escape. The story doesnt stretch it and gets straight to the parts which hit you hard. Not for the weak heart. I dont mean it in the sense of horror but in general. If youre offended or get sad easily then this is not for you. Be prepared if youre going to read this. Lets see what the author has in store for us. I dont see a happy ending coming but I hope it is because it wont be good for my heart otherwise.
