A great engaging start to this familiar yet impressively distinct and new world of pokemon in this manga iteration. It takes elements of the simple RBY games and creates engaging scenarios for our heroes to overcome. Obviously not the deepest story out there but for Pokemon it is such a breath of fresh air to have a more down to earth perspective of the world yet having it still explore the more out there concepts in fresh ways. This is true for most elements the gym leaders are well done and feel strong and imposing while they all dont get alot of spotlight that is to be expected with the fast paced nature of the arc and still allows each some time to show off personality they havent or bother got to show in the games or anime. A particular highlight in this field of bringing over some of the more out there features of the pokemon world is the pokedex. An obsolutely genius plot device making what is usually a forgettable part of someones journey into a game chaning source of strategy that brings this world to life. The art is pretty decent though not the best but I can personally say it never lost my attention. Also this manga seems to possess the super power to somehow make any pokemon cute or scary. I dont know how they did it but good job Pokemon Adventures But on a more specific look the characters of this manga are brought to life brillantly. Red is nothing too crazy but is an engaging protagonist with a swift journey that is long enough to hold weight while not overstaying its welcome. Its always nice to see Red presented as anything other than silent and strong so thats automatically a win. His rival Blue isnt quite as interesting. This is Blue as you know him from the games. Beating him in the games always felt good but without that interactive element his appearance here doesnt quite hold such a strong impression. He really is just the strong rival type character which is a shame cause especially with how they explore later characters it feels like alot more could have been done with him. But oh well at least by the end I was still on board with Red and Blues rivally. Next is Green an awesome addition to the cast with great personality motives and a good journey of her own. The way she uses her pokemon show versatility above all others and her twofaced exterior makes for great moments of both fun light moments and well earned tension. Overall every character comes together to form a versatile narrative showing how fun the world of pokemon can be while not shying away from the possible dark undersides. The villains while being quite 1 to 1 with the original games still have some nice suprises. The battles are well done and take on a completely different form than the games or even the anime at its best. This manga at least during its first arc is engaging intense and overall and thankful addition to the pokemon world. All I can is though it will never happen I wish this would get adapted into an anime... Oh well at least we have this amazing on page adaption of a series close to all our hearts.
