Aside from its original plot Ketsuekigatakun disappoints in what you generally expect from any anime. WARNING: SPOILERS The stories are fun or could be if they were understandable. The Ketsuekigatakun story is about four anthropomorphic blood types and how each one of them reacts to various situations guided by the stereotypes that said blood types carry with them. Although it sounds interesting and fun the development of this is actually confusing and unsatisfactory. Of course I will not mention that the context of these four blood types I am going to call them ABOAB from now on is not mentioned or explained since its not necessary for the plot to be comprehensive and therefore I dont consider the absence of such explanations like an error. Now why do I say that the plot is unintelligible if the context something fundamental in most stories is not necessary here? I say this because its really difficult to even understand what each character is saying in each sketch. I dont know if its because of an artistic choice or because two minutes is insufficient to develop each episode but ABOAB speaking so quickly just difficults the watching experience especially when the dialogues are the most important part of the story. The characters are fun but distinguishing them throughout each story is as difficult as it seems. As you must have imagined when looking at the key visuals those simple letters in the characterss masks A B O and AB dont help much when you are watching the episodes. So you will ask how do you distinguish each character from each other if they all look almost the same? Supposedly each character has a different personality based on stereotypes... I already explained this. The problem is that by looking identical the only way to figure them apart is by how they talk and act. Oh I forgot Understanding their dialogues is really difficult If I cant understand what they are saying and their appearances are the same is it easy to treat each character as separate entities? No its not. As if that wasnt enough not being able to recognize them instantly also affects the jokes of each story: Its difficult to attribute a specific personality to each character and therefore its also difficult to keep track of them and why they act in such a way in every episode. How do I know if AB is acting normally or not if I have never been able to understand his personality from the beginning? So it is with the other three as well. By the way as a picky complaint its also kinda inconsistent how the female versions of the blood types do not present the traits that their male counterpart possess they all act the same. You cant expect me to have enjoyed what I watched can you? Thanks to their incomprehensible dialogues watching each episode was a task of concentration rather than enjoyment. Im not the type to drop anime no matter if Im liking it or not but each episode just gave me more and more desire to leave the series and find something less complex. Not talking about its plot obviously. The anime adaptation of Ketsuekigatakun may have been created with good intentions but in the end the result is just a downgrade from its source.
