If this proves impossible to do Ill just probably not post this review. If youre reading this right now Im sorry I didnt fail. Additionally I feel the need to remind that my warning for the OVA review carries on into this one. The entire point of this series is giant insects and nudity. And they often intermingle. In this review the nudity will of course be censored the gore wont be. Thats too far. ...And the movie pushes the boundaries even further than the OVA did. There was that random scene that it started out with to show that the bully character was a bully because she stripped the bug girl in an empty classroom to... just be an ass I guess? Then of course there were the nude crazies who were getting eaten by the wasp larvae... But the movie adapts the chapter where it just basically goes full smut. 440https://i.ur.com/SCezCE2.png Lets all take a swim to check ourselves for tick bites Even though this would be the absolute perfect moment for the giant insects to ambush us on this island that is supposed to be teeming with them but is instead only teeming with them when the writing needs them to be there. Bug girls just sad that her friend got waspd but elsewhere idol girl and bully girl both simultaneously begin their own schemes of trying to hoist up a leader for the group to protect their own positions and survival. And they... its sex. Theyre going to bribe them with sex. Idol girl targets sports girl Im not even trying with the character names and bully girl targets alpha guy because hes dumb but also strong ?. And its just... can you not? Can you not? For real alpha guy fucking tells hiking girl to shut the fuck up when shes telling him probably useful BUT EXTREMELY OBVIOUS survival advice. That means my survival is GUARANTEED. Youre dead in like five minutes. Oh yeah. The OVA cut out the rape butterflies. The movie has the rape butterflies. Id rather it not have the rape butterflies but also its literally their first encounter with the giant insects. I call them rape butterflies because their first victim is female and she happened to be off in the woods since... since nature called. They also did like a genuinely okay scene with all of the characters in like the airport lobby before the plane crashed and the focus is just on this random normal sized bee thats just flying around everyone. 440https://i.ur.com/aiMRsbu.png Then of course it ends with alpha guy squashing it and then bug girl is sad because the bee died. And then later on shes crying for the giant insects shes helping the others defeat. 440https://i.ur.com/ZefeeQb.png Are you actually kidding me? Didnt you see that wasp inject venom into your friend? What about the ticks that you essentially sacrificed your gym teacher to so you could escape tick forest? Didnt you see that dobsonfly fucking decapitate that other guy who was infected with a parasite bug that forced him to go out into the open so he could get fucking killed? Youre the closest thing to a likable character this series has and youre crying for these actual monsters who you are still very much in the danger of being killed by. Crying for a squashed normal bee is fine. But these things are literally going to pierce your skin and suck you dry of you precious life nutrients until youre a fucking withered flesh husk. 440https://i.ur.com/WgxjTkw.png ...Actually I take that back. Akiras a pretty likable character. You know the guy who gets decapitated? I know his name because alpha guy screamed it three hundred times. He was also stung by the wasps and was fucked up by it. Rather than recovering like glasses girl did he turned out to have a weird parasite and... it either caused him to go crazy or took him over but for like ten minutes straight the movie is just him running around... 440https://i.ur.com/m08KWxz.png I have no fucking possible words to describe the sounds hes making. Its not him screaming its not him laughing its not words what the FUCK are these sounds hes making??? I am utterly incapable of describing them. And this is towards the end of the movie. Which has another real memorable and baffling scene where the... One of the other best scenes of the movie was when bully girl and alpha guy locked the rest of the group out of the medical clinic for literally no reason to get killed by the dobsonfly. They had plenty of time and mind you with minimal risk they could have just let them come in too. But then bug girls friend aka glasses girl wakes up having finally recovered from the wasp venom curious as to where bug girl is. After a short conversation and having revealed that she locked the others outside to die for literally no reason bully girl says shes being too loud and tells alpha guy to gag her. 440https://i.ur.com/gILwFOi.png Alpha guy just saw his friend get taken over by a parasite and decapitated by a giant insect so hes completely dazed and barely even registered what bully girl just said. Like that was singlehandedly the best part of the entire movie. And also that they just abandoned them there tied up. I thought the OVA was actually almost bearable because of how much they left out and cut around from the manga. This movie actually is a much more expansive adaptation of the manga. But for me what that essentially translates to is... an extra fifty minutes of just pure agony. Oh cool we get to see the butterfly rape this time Wait a minute... Sure I skipped bits of the section that was literally just the entire OVA again but that still comes out to be about an hour. An hour Ill never ever be able to get back...
