Ainz Ooal Gown does not know defeat...Feel the power of the man you all respect and call your master Momongasama This anime had always caught my eye and managed to get mentioned quite a lot when I asked for recommendations. Unfortunately the synopsis of it didnt really impress me and I disregarded it as another isekai with a darker and more mature twist. After watching this anime for myself though I can say that it really delivered when it came to entertainment Its definitely one for those of you who are looking for more mature action scenes that holds nothing back in terms of graphics. I was pleasantly surprised of the brutality of the action scenes which made the world Momongasama lived in THAT much more real. It was really easy to see the mental change in Momongasamas thinking as he accepted his role as Overlord to protect those he cared about and expand his power. Now lets get into why Overlord is such a bingeworthy anime. Art and Animation: 8.7/10 I really enjoyed the art style of Overlord it had given me a classic MMORPG feel that made the world much more realistic as a video game. Both the environment and color palette had set the appropriate mood and setting for events taking place. When it came down to character designs I loved the classic and yet unique models ESPECIALLY my girl Albedo. If its one thing that I could appreciate about this anime its the effort of incorporating A LOT of CGI into it. It was by no means awful but I felt like it was overused especially in the first half of the season. So if youre not a fan of CGI in anime youll just have to put up with it for a bit in the beginning. Otherwise enjoy some juicy action scenes thatll have your mouth wide open. Storyline and Character Progression: 8.1/10 Nothing too crazy when it came down to a real storyline full of twists and turns. The storyline itself was a simple and light objective that was progressed upon throughout the anime especially for someone with the position of Overlord......Expand and Conquer. I really appreciate all of the entertaining events happening while Momongasama began expanding his power. You got to see how he interacted with others what type of ruler he was and why he did things the way he did. You got to see both his compassionate side as a ruler AND his cunning side as an Overlord ready to protect his servants. The character interactions in between were filled with both humor and touching moments which gave this anime some breathing room from its intense action. Overall I was entertained all the way throughout the season which definitely makes this one an easy and enjoyable anime to binge. Soundtrack and Audio: 8.9/10 While I do understand that some may not like the style of music this anime features I personally loved it to death because of my background in alternative music. The OP was fantastic and fully represented the dark and energetic vibe of Overlord while the ED expressed the raw and terrifying obsessions of Albedo which Im guilty of being a sucker for. During the anime though there wasnt much of a music soundtrack to take note of. Rather it was filled with amazing sound effects that added a lot of anticipation and energy to the action scenes. The voice acting was what impressed me the most if Im being honest. Momongasamas voice had fit him well and it was always so satisfying to hear the power and authority his voice held when speaking. Other voice actors had embraced their characters roles almost seamlessly especially Clementine which was both a joy and terror to watch. Overall if youre in the mood for something with a bit more mature fantasy action this ones for you. Dont sleep on it like I did The pacing of this anime was consistent all the way through and I really enjoyed everything it had to offer even the CGI. Hopefully you can push through and overlook some of these weak points to really enjoy the world Overlord has to offer. This ones definitely going on my recommendations list for those of you who are interested in seinen/isekai/and top tier waifus Albedo. In conclusion this anime had a score of 8.6 which is nothing to snuff at by any means. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did see yall in the next one Streaming Platform: Crunchyroll
