A manhwa which tells a story about the young closeted gay boy Lee Jae Won who has a crush on his classmate Ha Ka Ram and tries to get closer to him but doesnt know how.
Jae Won then turns to an online forum for advice. Promptly he receives an anwser. Which reveals to be another student at the same school. As the story progresses both of them get know each other and become close.
This story focuses mainly on the everday life of the protagonist and his sometimes clumsy way to impress or win over his crush. The strongest points for this manhwa are the loveable characters and plotdriven interactions between the main cast.
The biggest reason for continueing to read was the protagonist Jae Won. His cute demeanor and funny behaviour makes the read worhwile. Especially those with his crush Ka Ram who is the picture perfect boy with a kind personality.
The dynamic with another student Ha Junseo makes it more interesting and creates more depth.
Like i mentioned before that the strongest point are the characters which is also the downfall towards the end. The ending might upset some people because for the reader it doesnt feel satisfying. This can be explained by the emotional investment for a specific character which the author gave too much time developing instead of the other characters.
The structure of the story can be devided in several several story arcs which are resolved fairly quickly. It is a shame really. Like i mentioned before if the author gave some characters enough time to be explored then the ending wouldnt give you a bad aftertaste.
Towards the end the author tries to create tension with a third newly introduced character which in my opinion doesnt have a significant relevance to the story but is only there to cause trouble.
Art is very simple but still cute
Overall Unripened Expression is a lighthearted character driven plot with some flaws and ending which not everyone can agree with but during the my read I enjoyed all the interactions of the cast.
For those who look for a wholesome and funny mishaps of a lovesick young boy will enjoy this. However you wont find a deep plot besides a character which receive a heavy and background story.
