I havent read the manga so this is my introduction to the series. He owns a convenient store and other hitman try to come kill him because he has a hit put out on him. Thats the major portion of this season and it suffers a little from hitman of the week syndrome but with how likable the characters are and some aura farming bad guys this makes for a really good experience. Theres also sprinkled in some heart warming parts like taro having shin for dinner and showing him why he left being a hitman. This show has made me a fan of the series. Taros daughter is so cute and funny. But honestly it feels like the hitman that come to try and kill taro steal the show and I love that. Some of them are likeable badass and straight up aura farmers thats sometimes done in a way that makes it look like Taro is in danger. Ive seen enough animation now to know that no animation is completely perfect. The use of CGI here was noticeable at parts but still done well. The action portions I had no real issues because in this show the way taro fights is more the focus rather than how it actually looks with his john wick style of fighting he uses his smarts in conjunction with his ability to fight and I think it fits really well with the style of show. Could the action have been better animated/directed? You can argue that finding out about the hit that was put on Taro is the overarching plot for season 1 but its not its focus. It has dropped hints of one with slur and his goons that I think we are getting in the future but its focus changes episode by episode. We did however get a few episode Shin backstory that I enjoyed but overall the characters lack some depth. When it was hitman of the week style I still enjoyed it because of the nature/sillyness of the show. It just works. Its problems in writing I see in a lot of season 1s in anime so I dont hold it against it to much. The joke writing is hit or miss but I find that to be true in every comedy. I also think its a weird decision for Taro to immediate lose all his weight and gain it back. Its a fun light action packed ride that I enjoyed from start to finish. It wasnt perfect but it made me a fan of the series so I think it does its job really well.
