This is the first time ever Im writing an anime review just because I saw this anime got only one review and it was a negative one and I just couldnt leave it be so I took matters with my own hands. Listen to me. This show has a lot of subtlety and because of that I think a lot of people will miss the message its trying to convey so I will humbly try my absolute best to explain it to you in case you missed it as well. First of all a question: have you ever wanted to be an artist? Since youre in an anime website reading this right here right now Im assuming youre a fan of anime and manga and if thats the case maybe in the past you tried making fanart of your favorite characters or even creating your own original stories and illustrations. The truth is anyone can draw. Anyone can be an artist. However a lot of people give up along the way because they believe they got no talent. This show tries to convey this same message but with magic in place of art. Its no coincidence the staff they use to cast magic is a literal pen its all intentional. So onto the story. The main character really enjoys magic and hopes she can become a magician herself but no matter how many times she tries she just cant do it right which leads her to develop a lot of selfdoubt. Im sure any beginner artist or even professional artists recalling their beginner days did feel the same. At the start we all suck. Its practice and help from colleagues that get us to the point where we can improve. It would be difficult to tackle down some details of the story without giving massive spoilers and since I want to keep this review spoilerfree I wont go into much depth about them Ill just tell you this: this show even has an equivelent to what would be AI art. Which is an art that a computer generates for you rather than one you make yourself and even how a lot of people turn to AI because they think they couldnt become artists and how about they say AI creates equality because now everyone can create awesome pictures while the truth is traditional art always has been equal to everyone some people just gave up at giving it a try. In conclusion I think this show is less about a plot but rather about the message its trying to convey which will go unnoticed by some many people which is: you shouldnt give up on something that you truly enjoy even if you think you dont have what it takes even if some crazy technology tries to replace you because at the end the things you can do with your own hands are the ones that truly matter and no one or anything can ever replace that. And that to me is why this show is a hidden gem. Because of that Im giving it a solid 100/100.
