The implication isnt the objective truth yet families love to mention this quote. Asian households tend to have a lot of pressure due to society and their family members. They have to meet their parents expectations and suppress their inner distress causing the household to fall apart. This reality exists in the Ichinose familys universe and its just as fucked up. Ichinose Familys Deadly Sins is a drama and mystery manga revolving around the Ichinose familys dark secrets. We were first introduced to the Ichinose family in a hospital. They lost their memories after an accident and thus collectively imagined fun scenarios to regain their memories. It was all fun and games until they entered their house which appeared suspicious and eerie. These mysteries eventually reveal each family members dark past and things more shocking to these characters. https://media1.tenor.com/m/ssD01VBE8ncAAAAd/theichinosefamilysdeadlysinstaizan5.gif Taizan5 is a mangaka known for creating Takopis Original Sin which showcases humanitys darkest desires and how to live in a cruel world. As someone who read the manga I expected Ichinose Familys Deadly Sins would also perfectly tackle the issue. Instead of reaching a satisfying conclusion it slaps the readers right in the face. Before exploring the mangas flaws I would elaborate on the positive aspects of the story. Firstly the manga managed to hook the readers with chapter one in which the family imagined themselves going on vacations together. Taizan5 conveyed this wholesomeness and then subverted the atmosphere to something more unsettling. In the darkness there is light. For each problem the author gives hope to the readers through Tsubasas actions to improve himself and help his family. Then the story introduces a plot twist to create shock and excitement for the next chapter. With this premise the author hyped the readers to figure out what is happening with the family. Now lets talk about the Ichinose Familys Deadly Sins. First Deadly Sin: The OverExpanded Plot A plots length should be based on the story concept worldbuilding and message. Although the story has 48 chapters Ichinose Familys Deadly Sins ended as an overstretched story of its plot twist and drama. The author overcomplicated a plot that shouldve been simple. Certain arcs couldve been simplified to more or less two chapters. Instead of multiple plot twists these chapters couldve been used for character growth. Second Deadly Sin: The Clash Between Drama and Mystery This manga aims to be a tale of an emotional familial bond with a twist of mystery. However with how the plot is written the drama takes away the mystery of the family to show the characters conflict. Meanwhile the mystery completely ignores the character progression by using plot twists. This diminishes existing character developments as they cut out the characters progress right out of nowhere undermining Tsubasas effort to help the family. With the addition of the overexpanded plot and the authors tendency for shock factor this clash ends up as a jarring transition even if it was initially praised. Hence the story becomes unpleasant to read. https://i.ur.com/CvgIBW3.jpeg Third Deadly Sin: Melting Cheese Cry A good drama should be able to make readers sympathize with the characters. However the drama versus mystery clash sabotaged the character buildup. Perhaps to compensate for this flaw the author thought drawing the characters crying for roughly 80 of the manga would revive the emotional suspense. Instead of elevating the atmosphere these characters end up looking stupid. Whenever something happened they would bawl their eyes out like an annoying toddler. Although crying may be a great tool for emotional scenes the crying faces were redundant. Fourth Deadly Sin: Unsolved Mysteries As stated in the second deadly sin the jarring clash between plot points left some questions unanswered. The story had an interesting concept and swept it under the rug leaving us questioning the backstory behind the plot twists of the story. Fifth Deadly Sin: The Message To avoid spoilers Ill sum it up by stating that I find the message of Ichinose Familys Deadly Sins perplexing and somewhat offensive. The story had a clear message that the family implemented during the final but later unused in the final chapter. This diminishes the character development and ruins the main plot point. Explanation with spoiler below: https://media1.tenor.com/m/DzhA1SlFGDMAAAAC/bocchitherockbocchi.gif In summary Ichinose Familys Deadly Sins had a great premise but couldnt execute its concept well. Its main features clashed causing other aspects of the stories to fall off one at a time. Instead of being an innovative and inspiring story of a family it wastes the readers time with repetitive plot points unsolved questions unclear story messages and underdeveloped crybaby characters. This manga couldve been so much more but it ends with an insulting reading experience. Its a shame to see a potentially great manga fall off this hard.
