Gokicha is one in a lifetime experience. Unrivaled in every single aspect of the production its the single greatest piece of anime media in existence. This timeless classic has seemingly been forgotten by many even though its impact on the anime culture is hard to quantify. Some of your favourite shows have almost certainly been inspired by Gokicha but nobody is brave enough to actually admit that. the story. Gokicha is a heartbreaking tale of trying to fit into a society as an individual deemed unworthy of a good social status because of the environment you were born in. Without spoiling much its a deep critique of the systems ruling over our world showing us struggles of a life from lower class citizens. It is as deep as it is multilayered showing us different perspectives on things and mixing up happy and heartwarming moments with those of struggles and pain. Nisio Isin could learn a thing or two from this show. Some may voice some concerns about its length since its only 16 minutes in total but it shows how truly ahead of its time it is. The youth these days dont have the attention span to watch full series anymore so having two 8 minutes long episodes is revolutionary. the sound. The music is absolutely incredible. The upbeat and catchy opening song is bound to find a place in your favourite playlist to remind you of this timeless masterpiece. The ending piece is more melancholic and sad but its also fantastic. The OST in this anime makes Yuki Kajiura look like an amateur. Everything is provided in unnecessarily high FLAC quality by default making it a special treat for those with high end audio equipment. the animation. Worldclass studio MooGoo cooked this one to perfection. Incredible attention to detail went into creating this show making it look amazing to this day. The animation is smooth and pleasing the artstyle aged like fine wine. Slower scenes with more dialogue stay engaging by having complex pleasing backgrounds and a lot of minor detail Shaft style. There arent many action scenes but those that were shown to us are so stunning they were a huge inspiration to ufotable that lead to their success. citation needed ending words You cant call yourself a true anime fan if you havent heard of or watched this iconic show. It encapsulates everything thats great about anime in one neat package that will resonate with every group of every age no matter what. One could only hope to find another experience as good as this. I hope this review brings attention to this forgotten gem. Only the brightest and most talented souls worked on this anime so that the world could enjoy this show. We cannot let it be forgotten.
