Note: the images might give away a few spoilers since they are taken straight from the scenes to show examples. 275https://i.ur.com/vIoO7dc.gif I actually liked it to be honest. The film really embraces creative freedom and I appreciate that. Its packed with a bunch of what if ideas. However I should warn you: the plot isnt as intricate as you might expect from Nolans films. Comparing it to those is a bit off the mark. A more fitting comparison would be Michael Bays moviesbig dynamic and overflowing with creativity and style. The film features panoramic shots dynamic sequences and an overthetop script that flows with aesthetic flair. 285https://i.ur.com/NTbUcbe.png 285https://i.ur.com/D02cNUO.png285 https://i.ur.com/GqNwMMf.png 285https://i.ur.com/r5hqGdV.gif I particularly enjoyed the scene where Red Hood confronts the farmer Joker. The kaleidoscope of colors and abstract sketches here takes a more avantgarde approach. The film has the traditional Japanese art form like ukiyoe woodblock prints and calligraphy. The color palette is very rich and varied with striking contrasts that highlight films dramatic moments. One of the most artistic sequences is the ink wash scene where the animation shifts to resemble sumie which is an ink painting style. The use of flowing brush strokes creates a dreamlike almost meditative atmosphere. This film thrives on its absurdity taking all the familiar elements and twisting them into something completely unexpected. Its a film where anything can happen and often does with a gleeful disregard for conventional storytelling logic. The depiction of Joker and his allies building giant mecha castlesfortresses that transform into massive robotsis the height of its absurdity. A cheeky nod to the Megazord combine from Power Rangers SPD just to add a layer of nostalgic fun. The fusion of feudal Japanese elements with futuristic scifi concepts is both bizarre and fun to watch. The final battle where these giant mecha converge in an allout brawl is as ridiculous as this film is visually stunning. There is this fun moment where Batmans Batmobile transforms through various formsa Batcycle a Batplane and finally a Batarmored suitbefore being destroyed leaving Batman without his powers that is his tech. Then there is one scene where he tries to use his grappling gun upwards only to realize there are no buildings. Its a playful sarcastic nod to technology and Batmans essence as a character. The film has a sense of humor. Take for example the scene where Harley is explaining Batmans breakin to the Jokerits funny to watch her assistant frantically unrolling the scroll as fast as possible to keep up with her.look at the finger animation https://i.ur.com/91QNgRt.gif I would be fooling myself if I expected anything too complex from this film. Right from the start it says: Dont take me seriously. Just look at Bruces haircutit is practically shouting that message.335https://i.ur.com/Yd4LKP4.png The film is best enjoyed as a popcorn flick even more with friends laughing at its absurdities. It might not offer a good story but it certainly presents a bold stylized animation and a creative take on the Batman mythos. Verdict: Passable as an entertainer with most of the points coming from its artistic aspects. 285https://i.ur.com/Yg6kbyl.gif
