With KR Manhwas sometimes you open it up and find an extremely heartfelt story that albeit has flaws is genuine all the same. I thought I was in for a story that had a strong initial start but would dwindle in the latter half but it wasnt. While it has a slice of life pacing that might not appeal to everyone since it might come off as boring I personally found it welldone. Major Spoilers Ahead 220https://i.pin.com/564x/3e/fa/59/3efa59c0e962a7b52eb4e16a7eef1175.jpg Living with Magicians tells the stories of its characters with authenticity treating them as not black and white in morality nor motive if you get what I mean. Stayns narrative is a fantastic display of this. His arc and the story in general intricately explores the political and legal complications faced by those affected by the law how the system comes to affect those it claims to protect. It offers multiple perspectives through the characters regarding the social and political landscape of the world that are easy to empathize with. Furthermore I adore that acknowledges that ignorance is bliss Rangse says it herself and there is truth to it. It is a privilege to have ignorance BECAUSE you arent the one affected. It blends themes of guilt and compassion and critically views its own characters allowing them to have flaws of being prejudiced of being wrong and so on so forth. Something thats rare to see in RoFan that usually frames their Main Cast as the absolute good in terms of narrative. I personally enjoyed the critic of the laws since I have my own thoughts on governing bodies especially the monarchy in this case to sum up my feelings heres a quote from Brennan Lee Mulligan from hit show Dimension 20 Fantasy High Season 1 laws are threats made by the dominant socioeconomic ethnic group in a given nation. Its just a promise of violence thats enacted and police are basically an occupying army you know what I mean? You guys want to make some bacon? So Im very glad theres a lack of sympathy for cops or authoritarian figures here LMAO. More grace is given towards the victims even if their victimhood doesnt fit the socially acceptable way of being one Stayn comments on such a concept himself Why do I need to be kind and courteous? / Does our victimization become fake because Im not a good person? What does my attitude have anything to do with the weight of the sin? It truly is refreshing to read something like this especially with the elitism slavery that are prominent in the RoFan genre. Onto more personal feelings The characters are fun Rangses relationship with her family is delectable especially since I like complicated and dysfunctional family dynamics in media. I know Kale is on the front cover but I am so rooting for Stayn and Rangse we laughed. I found their dynamic and relationship interesting Alongside Armia and Rangse. But well see how Kale and Rangses relationship develops. Also Im currently twirling the idea of Duchess Twilha and Chief Rien in my head we love old woman yuri... In conclusion easy to consume and read but not in a turning your mind off way but in an actual simple and engaging way with delightful characters story and world.
