Out of all of the reviews that I type for things on the internet I have the most trouble coming up with intros for reviews for these shows the most. So instead of trying to come up with an intro lets just not try at all: its Cannon Busters I had never heard of this show before but apparently it was made by the same guy who was also in charge of Yasuke so I feel its only appropriate that I check out this show after I checked out that one. Not to mention it only managed to get one season before abruptly disappearing from the face of the Earth so it was gonna be yet another easy watch and so what did I think about it? Eh... it was good. A lot of it is your typical anime mumbo jumbo with there being some elements that I absolutely adored from the show and there were others that I rather not be in the show all coming together to make a perfectly decent show.
The story is pretty basic with each plotline that the show follows being something we have all seen in some form or measure before but for the most part it manages to be entertaining enough to where you have a good time with it the characters are... a bit of a mixed bag where the main trio are incredible having a great dynamic and very enjoyable personalities and sequences with all of the weird characters they meet also being just as great most of the time but whenever they switch over to other characters... well get to that later the voice acting is pretty good with a lot of the performances being pretty solid as a whole even if there were one or two voices that I couldnt get behind the animation is pretty good having the style you have seen plenty of times before but it usually stays in the same level of quality consistently minus one or two parts of poor animation here or there the fight sequences are fun especially when they pull out some of the crazy moves and tools that they use to fight with in this show and the humor is...... somewhat lacking but hey there were one or two moments that did get me laughing so I will definitely give it credit for that.
Out of everything in this show if there was one thing that bothered me more then anything that we have seen here though it is the branching storylines. For most of the show it does focus on the main trio and their set of adventures and those are usually the best parts of the show but more often then not it will cut to some other storyline about a kingdom being destroyed this prince trying to survive the wild and some other stuff inbetween and whenever these scenes come up my interest in whatever is going on goes from a 100 to a straight 0. Thats not to say these sequences are bad because these additional plotlines are fine but they are SO BORING compared to the main stuff and there was not a single point throughout the entire show where I genuinely gave a shit about this kingdom the people in it or what was happening to their prince which is bad considering how much time they do dedicate to it. If these scenes were either severely trimmed down or removed entirely the show would probably have been much more enjoyable for me as a whole Im just saying.
Overall despite its tendencies to focus on stuff that I couldnt give less of a shit about as well as some other poor elements inbetween Cannon Busters was still a decent yet fun enough show to watch one that does its job at providing a very entertaining setup cast of characters and great action/lore to go off of even if most of the time it doesnt take either of these elements to their fullest potential to make something really great. I would recommend it for those who were fans of the original comic as well as those who love these kinds of shows in general because despite how it may not reach the same level of quality as others it will still give you a fun ride for most of the way and thats all that matters at the end of the day. And since I couldnt think of an intro for this review it would only make sense that I dont make an outro for this review either so I am just gonna go collapse on my bed now. See you all later
