So when i learned that a new one shot would be released for the 21st anniversary of the manga i was hiiiiiiiiped It was written by Riichirou Inagaki and drawn by Yuusuke Lurata the two creators of the original manga. And to warn you read the original Eyeshield 21 before you read this one shot Be warned this review is one of a fan and its clearly fully subjective. And after reading it what i think is : its too short saddly ... Its one chapter 46 pages but still one chapter with magnificent double pages and the characters never look so good in the original manga. There are two reasons as for why : Murata and inagaki had more time to draw and write And Murata is drawing One punch man and it is truly noticeable here. Seriously if you like or liked Eyeshield go take a look even if there is no true interest in the story the art is so good I was sincerely impressed. And its not only in action even if its still the best take a look at Panther Don Mamori or the two main characters Iruma and Sena. They are faithful to the original ones while we see that time had passed its a really tight rope between staying in character and committing to what was and showing modernity and evolution to show the 21 years without showing it if you can understand that idea And Inagaki and Murata advance on that rope like the professionnals they are its really wonderfull. About the Characters as i said they are gorgeous and we dont really have time to show more. But Im really impressed that they are able to show that many characters Im not gonna make a list here but if you think of a major character but here are two pages in spoilers if you want to see what Im talking about. and they do that while having a little plot that allows us to have the long awaited showdown between Sena and Iruma. And just for that its brilliant To continue on whats making Eyeshield the manga it is their is comedy aspects. And its fully respected here. Its like the mangakas never forgot what their manga was about. In this we see Iruma at his brightest cunning as ever and sena as its best so quick to react to prancks and to smart move as much as in the field. On top of that there are many one panel flashbacks to rewiev moments from the main manga that impact what we see in case you forgot them. But there is one problem. Its short. And that means we cant have more of this manga. So I took away 1 point its only 99/100. To try to be a little bit honest and summarise In the end there is no real scenario in this its just the most fun action one shot mostly based on nostalgia but its one of the best shots I ever took.
