As I slowly scrolled my way to the bottom of the rankings a particular series caught my eye the only entry on the top ten with more than one episode to its name. That series was Abunai Sisters: Koko and Mika. Well this looks awful I thought to myself But at least Ill probably get a good laugh out of it. Oh how very wrong I was. It astounds me that an anime like this can even exist. Never before have I felt so deeply ashamed of myself for finishing an anime. Calling this so bad its funny is giving it far more credit than it deserves. Abunai Sisters is a complete and utter failure in every single way imaginable to the point where I wouldnt hesitate to call it the worst anime in existence. ANIMATION/ART 1/10 The character designs of titular characters no pun intended Koko and Mika were provided by Susumu Matsushita probably one of the only talented people who worked on this shitshow. Matsushita is well known in Japan for his unique artstyle reminiscent of Western cartoons with exaggerated proportions and large round eyes. These are present in Koko and Mikas concept sketches and honestly they actually look pretty cute. Unfortunately The CG artists didnt manage to pull off Matsushitas art style very well. Their heads are the size of their whole torso their boobs are jutting out from their collarbones and their foreheads are big enough to play tictactoe on. The eyes full of detail and emotion in the concept art have been replaced with blank protruding bugeyes that awkwardly blink and squint whenever the CG artists attempt to make the girls emote. Matsushita didnt design any other characters for the show and zero attempt was made to make the other characters resemble his art style at all. Im honestly not sure if thats for better or for worse looking at the design of the two main villains. Theyre drawn in this gross semirealistic style with massive heads which combined with the plasticky shading on their hair and bodies makes them look like bobbleheads. Truly gross is an understatement. I began feeling nauseous whenever these characters came on screen. The animation is kind of okayish if your standards of animation are entirely based on PlayStation 2 games. I dont have too many complaints with it on its own but combined with the ugly static faces of the characters it makes every scene feel weird and uncanny. MUSIC/SOUND DESIGN 1/10 The theme song of this series should be considered a crime against humanity. The song consists of a generic actionmovie backing track occasionally interrupted by warbly falsetto singing. The only good thing I have to say about this song is that it was only 15 seconds long so I didnt have to suffer through it for that long. I honestly dont remember any other song in the show so thats all there is to say about the music I guess. They made the really odd choice to pitch up every characters voice which makes the show almost unlistenable at points particularly when the villains are talking. Other than that every sound effect seems to just be generic stock audio so I guess theres not much to complain about in that regard. CHARACTERS/STORY/THEMES/WRITING 0/10 Normally these 4 points would all be separate sections but thatd get redundant really quick. theres genuinely nothing here in terms of story or themes. Calling the characters onedimensional is giving them too much credit. The writing is bad at best and absolutely nonsensical at worst. PACING 1/10 The pacing sucks which is exactly what I expected from a series with 3 minute long episodes. Next. VOICE ACTING 1/10 Weirdly this anime is voiced entirely in English with Japanese subtitles. The voice performances are bad enough on their own but that combined with them being pitched up makes them absolutely grating on the ears. As far as I can tell Koko and Mikas voice actors were mostly okay save for some awkward delivery at times but both the villains could not act for SHIT especially the voice actor for that ugly old bitch I forgot her name. She puts on this weird raspy voice which becomes near migraineinducing when pitched up. I had to pause the episode multiple times because of how horrific the voices were. ENJOYMENT 0/10 Normally even if an anime is absolute piss poor garbage Im at least able to get some amount of enjoyment out of how awful it is. Not this time. Apart from one or two nose exhales at how terrible the whole thing was all I felt during this shows 30 minute runtime was either mindnumbing boredom or complete agony. Getting a dental checkup is more fun than watching this show. Recovering in the hospital from a surgery was a more enjoyable experience than watching this show. Im in awe at how anything can be this bad and uninteresting. OVERALL RATING 6/100 When I stand at the gates of Heaven after my death as my sins are being judged God will surely condemn me to hell for watching this and I will accept His judgment. And as I am slowly lowered down to the fiery depths I will gaze up at God and see the emptiness in His eyes and I will realize that we as humanity have failed Him.
