I love cat girls. So when I started Reincarnated as a sword TenKen a manga about a cat girl with a sword I knew I would like it. What I did not expect was enjoying it a lot and giving it a 10/10. Not The Best Translation The manga is originally based on a LN and thats why I think the manga has a lot of text. The dialogue is sometimes very long and there are a lot of descriptions which are normally not seen in a manga. The Tenken fanbase is not filled with degenerates and their discord server is actually very lovely. https://files.catbox.moe/ohfr9n.PNG Lastly The story is isekai I like to think of it is more like a battle shonen though so it does follow a few tropes the world and the power system from a typical isekai story and I can understand why people might ignore this manga especially considering its start is a bit slow. its actually a old isekai which was started around 2016 i think but it received its adaption much late but it was actually written at the time when the concept of isekai was fairly new and every isekai was not just copypasting each other. Personally I dont feel the story is held back because of that and with that let us proceed to the next section. This comes with a risk that Fran has to carry the show does she do it? Fuck Yah She carries it with one hand. I believe TenKen fully realises the power of a catgirl character by making Fran not only cute but also fierce. Fran is an amazing character with a lot of depth and development who shows many faces and sides throughout the show. Fran can be cute but Fran can be fierce too. Fran is sweet and lovable but Fran can be cold and brutal too . Fran can seem to be an righteous and emphatic action protagonist but then well killing any blue cats that she sees. Fran can be fierce but Fran can be elegant too. Fran is cool but Fran is wholesome too. Fran is strong but Fran loses her fights too. Fran gets help from master but Fran needs her grit too. Fran can be serious but Fran can be silly too. Innovative concepts 2. Sincere effort by its creator While Tenken has some cool ideas in it the effort put in by the people behind it is clearly visible. The art of this manga is really very very good. It pushes the storys enjoyment and elevates the story to greater heights bringing life to its characters. While reading it I kept downloading its pages and my gallery was filled with it. It was so good that I even brought a physical copy of the manga very expensive in my country : . Lettme tell you the other reasons people enjoyed it. 1. The bond between the sword master and Fran is wholesome. 2. Each Arc is better than the next arc 3. It does not take the route of a normal isekai trash show i.e. no harems or protagonist with no purpose or slavery concept being justified. 4. She is not overpowered. 5. Actual Emotional Moments. 6. Doesnt shy away from brutality. 7. The Fights are fucking lit bro. Conclusion Reincarnated as a sword is an amazing story that has taught me that a well written story and interesting characters is more important than being unique.
