Who Made Me a Princess is actually a lot of peoples first otome isekai. This was one of the first ones I started as well though I didnt finish it until now. And Im glad I did. This is one of the things that Ive read that other people read recently so we all talked about it together and I feel like that really adds to my reading experience. I dont think I would have as much fun watching Death Note Ouran or Brothers Conflict if my sister werent right there watching them with me. I actually even got into a heated custody battle over Athy which was something I never thought would happen. Now I should actually start talking about the manhwa... Our heroine is reincarnated into the story Lovely Princess as Princess Athanasia. However Athanasia isnt the lovely princess the story is about. That would be her halfsister Princess Jennette who is able to win over their coldhearted father Claude. Athanasia on the other hand is ignored by their father until the day she is accused of harming Jennette and is executed. However when Athanasia encounters their father earlier than she was supposed to in the book she decides her best plan is to endear herself to him. The story has a huge emphasis on family and the fatherdaughter relationship. So much of the story is about the bonds between Claude Athy and Jennette. It also does a good job handling an amnesia arc. When I found out there was going to be an amnesia arc I was ready to throw hands. I was expecting some serious melodrama that existed to retread previous plot points just to keep the story going but this actually had a purpose. I appreciated the way it helped to set up the main plot aside from the slice of life family dynamics. Unfortunately I didnt feel like anything aside from the family stuff was resolved properly and even then some of the things involving Claude and his brother wasnt utilized to its full potential. Some of the stuff involving Claude and Anastacius pasts was left up in the air and unexplored. In fact the love triangle at the end isnt resolved either. I have hope for the upcoming bonus chapters to provide some more resolution but I cant say I loved the way it ended since there was so much story left to tell. Athanasia or Athy was an enjoyable protagonist. I felt like she was believable as a child with adult memories. It was interesting to watch her relationship with Claude grow from Athy simply trying to endear herself to him to real familial love. She has a lot of fears about being alone both from her knowledge of the original Athanasia as well as her past life. Shes really very cute and caring if a bit cautious and unwilling to trust others. Claude is... definitely something. Hes regarded as a good ruler despite being very cruel and merciless. Some of his heartless actions werent explained very well either. He doesnt care for Athy in the slightest initially only seeming to pay attention to her out of amusement. However as he spends time with her he realizes how his own irrational anger towards her has blinded him. Unfortunately he doesnt really grow in any other ways other than as a parent though I cant fault him for that considering the events of the story. The other characters I will mention are Athys peers. We have Lucas the haughty and mysterious wizard who was one of my favorites. Hes stubborn and has a big ego but he really does care about Athy. I thought he showed a lot of personality and I really liked the way he was written. Ijekiel the son of the duke who took Jennette in was not as interesting. He and Athy had a lot of chemistry when they were younger and I liked the way he showed compassion for his family. However he just wasnt super memorable to me. I will say he was more interesting and plot relevant than a certain 2nd ML from another hugely popular otome isekai. Justin Shamall from Raeliana anyone?. Jennette was another character who blew me away. I could really empathize with her desire for family as well as her fears of not being accepted by her relatives. I felt so bad for her the entire time and Im glad that she got a happy ending even though I wish more could have been done with her. Despite being such a good person she suffers a lot and she is constantly being used as a puppet by the adults around her. It was sad that in the end she believed that the only reason anyone got close to her was for her status. I just appreciated the way the characters were so wellwritten and engaging. As for the art its mindblowing. Athy and Jennette have the most gorgeous eyes and Athy is super fashionable. The outfits in this manhwa are just spectacular. The male characters are drawn with just as much care as the female ones and they are also given such extravagant outfits. The art is just so beautiful I could go on for hours. I can understand why this is so beloved. I mean the characters were good enough to get into a custody battle so that should say something
