Considerations
This is a spoilerfree review.
90+ in my rating means masterpiece.
Ive got to read this work on a friends recommendation. I didnt look too much into the synopsis and just started reading.
The Story
Jaesin is a troubled adult. In his childhood he saw many people die because of demons. Years later he keeps getting the same dream with a mysterious woman telling him that she will be waiting for him. After moving to a cheap house Jaesin finds himself with the need to fight a demon to survive. Hes able to escape with the help of a magical wooden bat filled with enormous power. Now that weird things are piling up Jaesin cant run away from his fate anymore.
The story of Nan Yak is really good. As a good shnen you get all the stages of The Heros Journey. The story is presented as a long narrative with events leading to the next events without much interruption or deviation. You can definitely binge read this. Theres always the idea of whats going to happen next.
The manhwa gave me some spooky vibes at the beginning of it but if you cant handle horror dont worry it doesnt last long.
The Art Style
The art style in Nan Yak is absurd Thats the most visually appealing manhwa Ive ever read. The way that the team uses lights from the top gives you a godly idea. There are so many beautiful shots. I found myself downloading many panels.

I couldnt find any good pictures of Jaesin that wouldnt spoil things
Another point that is absurdly well done is the choreography of fights. By reading it youre able to picture each attack and evade. Honestly I could stay here for many paragraphs just telling you how amazing it is but I will shorten it with: Theres nothing to complain about in this department.

The Characters
There are several characters in this manga. Jaesin all his companions and enemies. Theyre very well done. Their designs both artistically and mentally are very remarkable. As the manga is a shnen having the Heros Journey you can expect similarities with other works and even tales. I dont think that is bad as it is well done.
As I always like to talk about main characters. I really liked Jaesin in the beginning I felt like he was weak as a main character but when you need him to deliver and start getting his grip he does. Its really nice to watch his growth with the series.
Conclusion
If youre like me you skip everything and read only the conclusion because you dont want to get spoiled with other themes. So I will try to be brief on this point:
Read it. Nan Yak has everything a reader could want: absurdly good art a great story massive and engaging fights drama mystery and a fantastic universe. I cant think of a bad point about this work.
I often dont give 90s to shnen but the art quality and the welldone narrative really get it from me.
