An Uncomfortable Truth starts as your classic high school story and at some point everything goes out of control. I began to read An Uncomfortable Truth when I was recommended it on a Reddit thread after reading Killing Stalking. Although it shares similar characteristics and I would highly recommend both they have their individual storylines and characters with their own development. Whenever I find recommendations I often compare the two works rather than looking at it as a piece on its own however Im writing this review as objectively as possible. I will avoid spoilers to the best of my ability but at the end I will dedicate a section to my thoughts on the ending which will include many spoilers. This is my first review and I apologize if it isnt the best but nevertheless I hope you enjoy it. Art At first the art struck me as simplistic but it forms a great contrast between the story and the subject matter. This style of art immerses you in the beginning romance aspect between Yura and Jaeha and the surface relationship between Jaeha and Yoseob. It allows a good amount of exaggeration between not only Yura and Jaehas interactions but all the characters actions which might not have been achieved with a different style. This almost makes you forget what you originally came to read and the obscurities and gore stand out much more. Storyline Character Progression The character development was very smooth and the backstories of the characters shaped them even more. Although the author thought the story dragged out in the middle in my opinion all the parts of the story were necessary. From backstories to the actual plot everything enforced your understanding of the characters and why people and things were the way they were. One thing I most enjoyed was how the author showed different points of view at times. This helps you see through the antagonists eyes and question what side is truly right. This also increases the psychological aspect as both sides have their respective flaws and morals with no strictly good or evil side. The Ending I thought it would end with Jaeha being hit by the car as many psychological manga/anime do to end with a feeling of shock and sometimes its nice and while it has its charm I often have a love/hate relationship with them. Its nice to end with a twist but losing a good character brings a very blunt ending and from my experience often leaves a hole somewhere. What happened to everyone after? What happened to Yuras face? Did Yoseob hurt anyone else? Did Jaeha really die? Losing a character often a main one and with many protagonists in other genres magically coming back to life this type of ending reminds you it may not be possible to undo things but things can turn out pretty good.
